Recommendations for collecting samples serving gene diagnostics analysis of animals_072023

Depending on the specific question being addressed, various types of sample material can be used for genetic testing:

• Hair roots: ideally 50–100 strands

• EDTA blood: approx. 5 ml

• Semen: 2 vials

• Ear punch samples

• Swab samples

The type of sample required for your test depends on the specific question being addressed and the animal species. We would be happy to advise you on selecting, preparing, and submitting the appropriate sample material.

When shipping samples within the EU or Germany, a commercial invoice in accordance with Regulation (EC) No. 1069/2009 must be included with the package.

When shipping samples outside the EU, the package must also include an import permit (not required for DNA samples) and a commercial invoice.
